We all fell in love with Swedish artist Emelie Lidehäll Öberg‘s debut coloring book, Sagolikt, that released this past spring so I’m excited to tell you that Swedish publisher Pagina Förlag published four new books by Emelie in October! Today I will be sharing with you my review for En Sagolik Vinter.

En Sagolik Vinter is a postcard collection containing 20 postcards for you to color. The designs in En Sagolik Vinter are exclusively available in postcard format only — there is no corresponding coloring book.

En Sagolik Vinter is full of winter-themed imagery with a cozy, festive, and fairy tale vibe. There’s a bear wearing a crown among holly branches, a wee cottage surrounded by big festive ornaments, a deer princess wearing a scarf, a fox wearing sweater curled up in a nest, a mouse sleeping in a hollowed out gourd, a quartet of scarf-clad sardines tucked inside their tin, a Winter Queen wearing a snowflake pendant, a decorated bird with a greeting card in his beak, and so much more.

The postcards are sized 5 x 7 inches and are printed on thick ivory card. The backs of the postcards include three lines for the address, a small square image of an envelope to indicate stamp placement, and copyright text.

The postcard book has lay-flat binding which allows the book to lay completely open and flat without the spine cracking or breaking. This binding also permits the cards to be removed. Even though the postcards are removable, the binding is still quite sturdy — I have flipped through the book multiple times and the pages are still intact.

**Please note: Because the cards exceed the dimensions of 4.25 x 6 inches, the United States Postal Service will not treat them as postcards but rather as letters and they will require letter-size postage — at least one 47-cents first-class stamp. Check with your local post office before mailing.**

WHERE TO BUY:
En Sagolik Vinter is published by Swedish publisher Pagina Förlag. The best place to pick up a copy is right here from Pen Store, a retail and online shop based out of Sweden. At the time of this post, En Sagolik Vinter is currently sold-out on Pen Store but keep stalking  checking the page!

When ordering online from Pen Store or other Swedish shops, be alert and careful as there may be different formats for the same book — there are coloring books (Målarbok), Artist Editions (Tavelbok), and postcard collections (Vykort). When in doubt, use google translate to help!

At this time, you will not find En Sagolik Vinter listed on Amazon USA or Amazon UK because no US (or UK) publisher has acquired publishing rights.

OTHER NEW COLORING BOOKS BY EMELIE: In October, Swedish publisher Pagina Förlag published three postcard collections and one poster book (sized A4) by Emelie. You can see these new releases right here on Swedish publisher Pagina Förlag’s website. They are available for purchase on Pen Store.

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH EMELIE: Back in May 2016, I interviewed Emelie about her life, her art, and her brand new coloring book, SagoliktClick here to read it.

Argh….Beth, you’re killing me, girl! You post all of these lovely books that are out of my reach due to the shipping costs. But, as always, great review. I have my fingers, toes, eyes, legs, and arms crossed that I might win the Nadja Wedin book. (It’s gonna be a long few days trying to keep everything crossed. Hehe) Alas, I’ve never been lucky. I’m hoping all of these new books will be picked up by US publishers soon.

    • You’re preaching to the choir 😉 It is always a bit awkward for me to share reviews for books that aren’t widely available in the USA (or UK). I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you, too. Maybe Santa will tuck a few special coloring books under your tree this year.
